Two Ingredient Carob Treats

Carob seems to be one of those foods that you either love or hate. I’m a carob lover through and through – the taste reminds me of eating carob covered apricots as a little girl. Rich and sweet, but not sickeningly so. I could eat it all day long, and so could my girls! 

Carob contains vitamin E, B, B2, A and D2, is rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients, is high in magnesium and potassium and is caffeine free which makes it less stimulating for children than chocolate.

I’ve been making my own little carob treats for my girls recently which they LOVE and the best part is that they only contain two simple ingredients! Carob is naturally sweet so no sweetener is needed – which means they don’t get the sugar rush and inevitable crash that they might get with chocolate. Plus they are also dairy and soy free unlike the carob treats you might buy in stores.

So, you wanna make them yet? 

You’ll need: 

1/4 cup Carob powder

1/2 cup Cacao butter

Silicone trays or Paper muffin liners

Melt the cacao butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once melted, add the carob powder and whisk to combine. Spoon mixture out into moulds and transfer to the fridge until set.

Finito!

You can also jazz them up any way you like with nuts and dried fruit.
