Her Instagram feed is divine, she is divine, and her two little girls are divine. Amanda invites us all into her beautiful world via her bright, and perfectly framed pics. From matching outfits to the sweetest pics of both of her girls in their highchairs, and adorable ‘family of four’ pics with her hubs, we all have a huge Mama Crush on Amanda. She is the sweetest, kindest, soul, and I couldn’t wait to read her answers to our fave 20 questions:
Let’s start things easy, and simple …
What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Earlier this morning I ate Scarlett and Isla’s crusts of their vegemite toast and that normally ties me over until Isla’s first sleep where I can eat in semi peace. So as we speak I am having yoghurt and granola (and a coffee…number two of the day).
Most enjoyed Winter and Summer beverages?
Coffee is always my most enjoyed beverage, regardless of season lol. I only really drink water other than that!
What three things do you take to your desert island (unfortunately George Clooney isn’t available)?
Well, if I was going it alone, I would probably be set with a doona, pillows and my phone and happily sleep my days away. Kinda sounds like a nice getaway at the moment to me haha.
Describe your style …
I am without a doubt all about the comfort. If I am out and about I can probably guarantee i’d be seen in jeans with a tee that is either black, white, grey or striped. And when I get home, off comes the jeans which are replaced with trackies (which I own an embarrassing amount of) and off with the bra… replaced with nothing.
Holiday destination of choice?
Being such a homebody, I’d be lying if I said I dream of travelling and seeing the world, because I really don’t. I am sure when the girls get a little older we will do some, but for the moment I am so content where we are and really think we live in the most beautiful place (we are on the Gold Coast, Australia). We are planning on going to Bali in the next year and after that I’d love to take the girls to the snow. My husband also loves snow. But me, I’ll be rugged up in a cabin somewhere brrr I’m not a fan of the cold!
Ok, let’s step it up a little …
How do you chill out?
Of a night once the girls are asleep and the house is cleaned, i’ll be chilling out watching ‘Orange is the new black’ on Netflix with the hubs. I also love to take a good power nap whenever / wherever I can!
Something you can’t live without?
A hot shower.
You have a dinner party and can invite three people dead or alive, who’s attending? …and what signature dish do you cook for them? More importantly, does it involve dessert?
There are so many people I could choose! But off the top of my head right now, I’d love to meet and talk with Gretchen Ruben (author of The Happiness Project) as I have just finished reading two of her books and I am so on board with a lot of what she has to say about living life. And of course… my all-time man crushes; Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal…uhhhhh.
I’d make my homemade spaghetti bolognaise, because that’s all I really got going on in the kitchen let’s be honest.
What is your favourite thing about Motherhood?
Having two little girls I can smooch all day and squeeze their cheeks every chance I get (I mean, who could resist Isla’s cheeks in particular). No matter what is going on in my life, how hectic and out of control it has been at times in the last 12 months, when I sneak into their rooms of a night and see them sleeping, I can always go to bed feeling so much love and gratitude.
When you jump on Instagram, which accounts do you look at no matter what?
I have a lot of stalk material (who doesn’t?), but currently i’m loving @ozarkmamadeer, @ameliahannah, @dear_franny and @samanthabroderick.
Are you afraid of anything? (we promise we won’t use this against you. Maybe)
I am (like all of us) terrified of anything happening to my family. But a bit more light hearted fear of mine is toads. I’m always scared when I feed the dogs at night that I might stand on one (only in Queensland right?!).
Favourite childhood memory?
Dancing and singing to Whitney Huston’s “I will always love you” with my Mum in the lounge room in our small little house.
What are your non-negotiable health and beauty routines?
I have to wash my face every morning and night and I (try) to get at least 2L of water into myself a day.
Oh, these are too easy? Ok … let’s get personal.
What does self care mean to you?
Taking time for yourself to just have a minute to catch your breath. For me it would be trying to have a nap when the girls nap of a day, forget about what I should be or could be doing and just switch off.
Leap into the future – describe to us how it looks …
As I said a little earlier, the past 12 months has been just crazy. For those who have been following our journey for a while would know that we almost lost Isla at birth, and a little over 10 weeks after trying to move past that, my mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer. From then, our lives have been in fast forward mode. So, as of today, I am really just trying to take it day by day and slow down. I don’t know what the future holds but I know as long as I have those I love around me and we are all happy and healthy then I don’t really mind where I am or what I am doing.
Inspiration; what makes you go chick chick boom?
Pinterest … who doesn’t get their life inspo on there really? It has goals for everything!
What makes you wet-your-pants happy?
Being at home with my family bqqing / swimming / napping together and lazy days at the beach.
Do you live by a life motto? If so, do share …
Have less, be more.
Tell us something about yourself that we’d be surprised to hear …
Magnum Icecreams are my favorite – but I only eat the chocolate off the outside … normally my husband Chris will happily eat my left over icecream.
and finally …
What’s next for you?
Right now, my washing machine is beeping to be hung out. But other than that, next I will be planning Isla’s first birthday and continue enjoying renovations on our little family home.
